I'm doing an Ironman. Why? Because Shanon asked me to, and when your wife makes such an audacious request, you don't take it lightly. Shanon is doing an Ironman and she asked me to join her. So, there you go. I'm doing an Ironman.
It's been a helluva year, a year plagued by severe family health challenges (more on this later). At times it's been overwhelming. The Ironman is an opportunity to reclaim physical, emotional, and mental health—for Shanon . . . and for me.
Twelve weeks until race day—May 7 in St. George, Utah. This blog is about the journey ahead. The why and the how. And more besides. I don't promise that what follows will be anything more than the far-from-literary ramblings of one tired, rapidly aging man. But it will be honest. And perhaps, at times, entertaining. Especially if you appreciate schadenfreude.
